Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • Mature applicant must be at least 25 years old and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least 25 years old at the time of application. 
  • Candidates will be expected to write and pass a selection examination to be conducted by Withrow College.
  • Candidates who obtain satisfactory marks would be invited to attend an interview to be conducted by the Withrow College.

WASSCE & SSSCE Applicants:

Withrow college admits students holding a WASSCE or a SSSCE Certificate based on the following criteria:

  • Students with a West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and an overall aggregate of 36 or better.
  • Students with a Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) and meet the following criteria:
    • Minimum of 6 credits (C6) in English Language, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science.
    • Three elective subjects in Science, General Arts, or Home Economics.
    • Overall aggregate of 24 or better.

Note: Preference will be given to students with science electives.

Applicants who already have a diploma: 

Candidates meeting the following criteria will be admitted as a third-year student:

  • You are a registered General Nurse (Diploma) with a minimum GPA of 2.50 from a recognized institution,
  • You passed the licensing examination conducted by the Nurses and Midwivery Council.
  • You meet the minimum requirement for admission into Tertiary Institutions. 
  • You pass a selection examination and interview.

Candidates meeting the following criteria will be admitted as a second-year student:

  • You are a State registered Nurse (SRN) or you are an enrolled nurse or community health nurse.
  • You meet the minimum requirement for admission into Tertiary Institutions. 
  • You pass a selection examination and interview.

Foreign students must also meet the following criteria:

  • You must have results slips translated into English. 
  • You must be able to speak and write fluently in English or show equivalent abilities established by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
