Bachelor of Science in Public Health Studies

The Public Health Studies programme focuses on developing leaders in the field who are passionate about making a difference in the Ghanaian community. Students will gain a deep understanding of public health issues and learn to design and implement effective interventions. With a strong emphasis on practical experience, our program prepares students to address the most pressing public health challenges.

This 4-year, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programme is designed to offer opportunities for mid-level health professionals currently holding diplomas or certificates, to upgrade themselves.

Admission Requirements:

Entry Requirements:

  • Mature applicant must be at least 25 years old and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least 25 years old at the time of application.
  • Applicants must have passes in five General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘O’ Level (Ordinary Level examinations) subjects including English Language, Mathematic/Statistics and Science.
  • Candidates will be expected to write and pass a selection examination to be conducted by Withrow College.
    Candidates who obtain satisfactory marks will be invited to attend an interview to be conducted by the Withrow College.

WASSCE, SSSCE and GBCE applicants:

The general requirements for admission of WASSCE, SSSCE and GBCE candidates to the Public Health Studies program are three (3) credit passes in three relevant elective subjects plus the following criteria:

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE) Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Candidates: Credits Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant electives subjects.
  • General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Candidates: Credit Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English language and Mathematics plus three (3) relevant elective subjects. 

Applicants who already have a diploma:

Higher National Diploma (HND) and other Diploma holders seeking admission into Degree programs at Withrow College should possess at least a Second Class (Lower Division) in the relevant area. In addition, the applicant must have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience. 

Foreign students must also meet the following criteria:

  • You must have results slips translated into English. 
  • You must be able to speak and write fluently in English or show equivalent abilities established by the National Accreditation Board (NAB).
